I think I may have figured out a trim solution for the colorful trim on the orange dress. I put together a couple mirrored scalloped stitches, with a single funky eye-looking stitch in the middle (colored in with sharpie), and I think it's the closest thing to the inspiration that I can find. I'm planning on getting some heat-and-gone stabilizer, and some pink/blue/yellow variegated thread, but that might have to wait for the weekend. Here's a picture - opinions please!
Other than several different trim test-outs, I haven't done any more sewing since I started working on Monday. By the time I've gotten home after running errands or what have you, I've just been too sleepy. Not to mention I've been trim-obsessing online for this and the other impossible-to-find trims for this dress. It's crazy!
But in case any of you were curious, this was my view from one of the breakrooms at work today:
