Ariel progress
I've been working a whole ton on Ariel over the past few days, and I'm getting closer and closer to completion! Yesterday, I finished putting together both sleeves, including all the hand finishing. It was so challenging trying to get the elastic threaded through those channels! The huge yarn needle I was using kept getting caught in the sequins or something. I had to start over multiple times.
Today, I moved on to the bodice finishing. I bound the edges, inserted the zipper, and cut the boning to length. I've sewn down the CB seam allowances to use as boning channels so far, and am partway through one (of four) other seam allowances. I also have to sew on three boning channels for the front channels, since there are stitch lines for the pleats running across the seam allowances. I'd really love to finish all that tonight, but I'm not sure I can make it through that much hand-sewing in one go. All that's left afterwards, though, is to attach the sleeves, and add my label and hanging loops, and figure out the shell brooch on the front of the bodice. I'm hoping to send it off to my customer on Thurs or Friday at the latest. And then I can move on to the little girl dresses!
This is how it was looking yesterday, with the sleeves completed and pinned to the dress form.
