Vintage Sari Fail
Jul. 1st, 2014 11:13 pmMy vintage sari was severely faded in one area. Naturally, I didn't notice just how bad the fading was until I cut the front of the bodice together and practically finished all the construction of the bodice. But it's pretty darn bad. Per my boyfriend's suggestion, I'm going to leave the brighter side of the bodice by the window while I'm away, but I fully expect to come back in 1.5 weeks and have to tear it apart and recut one of the front bodice pieces. Assuming I even have enough fabric, of course! I mocked up the sleeve, but after noticing the fade problem, (and the fact that at 11pm, it's still 75 degrees outside, and in Seattle, that's hot!), I've decided not to put my corset on and try it all on. So in other words, I still have to make sure I have enough fabric for the sleeve, too.
And here I thought I was so close! Without the fade problem, I probably could have finished it today. Because other than the sleeves, I just have to attach the bodice to the skirt, and hem the skirt. I'm debating about a decorative band at the waist, too, though if I have to recut the bodice, that is almost definitely out.
Here's a couple pics so you can see just how bad it is, both with and without flash:
