Jan. 30th, 2018 10:31 amWow, there's been a wonderful amount of posts in the last five days that I've been gone from here. Anyway, in those five days, I somehow managed to get almost no sewing done whatsoever. I mocked up my jacket sleeve. And then mocked it up again when that first one wasn't anywhere close. And then tweaked that second mockup at least 2-3 times. *Sigh* But I finally wound up with something that will work, and it just barely manages to fit on the fabric that I have left (that said, the inside of my hood is either going to have to be a slightly different blue wool, or something totally contrasting - any opinions?)
So in three available sewing days, I managed to cut out the sleeves. Just in the wool, mind you, not the lining. But I did also see Phantom Thread, Darkest Hour, and Call Me By Your Name. I've been trying to see all the Oscar-nominated movies, and at this point, I only have one Best Picture nomination left (The Post). So far, my top three of 2017 have been 1. Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri, 2. Darkest Hour, and 3. Lady Bird. There were a lot of good movies last year!
It's tech week this week, so I doubt any sewing will be done till Friday. In fact, yesterday, I came home from work and napped for an hour until I had to leave for rehearsal. Today, I work later so there's no time for a nap. I'd really love to get the jacket done this week, but since I still have to finish the sleeves, mock up the hood and do all the finishing, I know that's not going to happen. It will be done before Europe, though. And hopefully it will actually be cold enough in Europe to wear it, since it hasn't been lately (and hasn't been here, either - what's up with this warm winter?)
