I finished the bustle skirt! That was a lot of ruffling. I even had to switch to my big machine, so that the ruffles could fit through the opening (which is good, because I feel guilty that I only ever do decorative stuff with that machine anyway). It's very floofy, and I'm quite pleased with it. Here's a couple pics:

Now I have to start patterning that funky bodice! I was studying it yesterday, and it's almost like a cutaway 1780s riding habit shape, but Victorian. This should be interesting...

(This is what happens when I'm waiting for measurements or fabric from my clients. I get to sew for myself!)

Oh, and speaking of clients, I must be showing up in Google all of a sudden, because I now have two students for sewing lessons! I start with one of them tomorrow, and the other one next week. So this should be fun! :)

It's just Kona cotton from Joanns. I bought it for the artistic reform Trelawney that I scrapped. :)

And thanks!

That looks really lovely, it's so luxe I kind of can't believe it's just a kona cotton!

Thanks! Everyone's comments are almost making me think I should wear this one to teach the Costuming on a Budget class. :) (Though of course, then I'd have to change around all my plans!)

Holy ruffles/ruching Batman! Simply divine :) I always make plain things cuz I never have the patience (and maybe a lot of not leaving myself enough time) to decorate!

Thanks! It was actually relatively easy, though it was a bit time consuming. Of course, the hardest part really was ironing the hems and pinning everything in place! But it's actually just six 20" wide panels, and then nine 10" wide panels for the bottom ruffle. And everything is machine sewn, naturally. I don't have that kind of patience. :)
