Soooo that chemisette that I thought was finished? Not so much. I tried it on on Wed afternoon, and it was way too wide at the shoulders, and through the front piece. Yesterday morning, I cut off the excess, and I've been re-hemming the edges, this time by hand on the bus. I have about 1/4 left to go, which I should be able to easily complete on the bus home this evening. Thank goodness I hadn't initially hemmed it by hand, or I'd be feeling a lot more reluctant to redo it!
I have also been working on cleaning up my apt and sewing area. I have potential new roommates coming to look at the place over the several days, so the cleaning needed to happen anyway. However, I've been extra good, and even re-organized all my ribbons and trims. I kind of had to -- when I went to put away all the lace I got from the Bargain Bazaar, my shelves were completely overflowing. A little while ago I had purchased comic book cardstock pages to wrap fabric around in an attempt to organize the stash (yeah, haven't done that yet), so I took a whole bunch of those, and started wrapping every single trim I own around them, with the exception of small spools of satin or grograin ribbon. So now everything looks very pretty, is much easier to find, and is much better organizes.
And I went through and finally threw away all the scraps from the three most recent projects. I kept some of the larger pieces just in case, and folded them into a drawer, but at least the floor is cleared of all the rest!
Finally, I was smart yesterday, and cut and hemmed a sequined eshakti dress ($6.99 from Value Village) before I vacuumed! I'll be wearing it to my friend's wedding tomorrow. It actually hemmed up pretty nice and easily considering the amount of sequins on it. I was kind of worried, since I haven't yet picked up my Viking from my roommate, and had to use the big expensive machine to hem it! I don't want that thing to break.
My goal tonight, after one of the potential roommates come over, is to cut out and start sewing my plaid 1890s skirt. I just hope I have enough fabric!
Oh, and I still haven't recovered from CoCo. I want to go back!
