theladyrebeccaSince I seem to be on an updating spree, here's some more pictures for you! I've just started work on my next commission for Jennifer, of The Los Angeles Princess Company, which will be Disney's newest princess, Princess Anna. But last month, Jennifer did a photo shoot of the Rapunzel outift I made her last spring. Here are a few of the photos, and the rest can be found here. All photos are by South Bay Exposure.
Quick rundown: I drafted all the pieces of this costume entirely on my own. All of the fabrics and trims except some of the wider lace and the pink mesh came from the fabric district. The bodice and forepart began as the same fabric (some sort of cotton/poly blend), which I then dyed. Although I did several dye tests, I believe the end result wound up being that the bodice was right side out, and the forepart was the reverse of the fabric. The skirt and sleeve poufs are poly satin, and the lower sleeves are mesh. The bodice is lightly boned with cable ties, and is piped with pink satin piping. The forepart is attached to the skirt, with the edges of the overskirt lapped on top, and stabilized with double-sided fusible, in order to give some stiffness to the decoration. Other than the ribbon and lace trim, all of the skirt decoration is freehand painted, using fabric paint from Joanns. The upper sleeves have a fitted part inside, and are stuffed with tulle; the pink striped on them are ribbon. Both skirt and bodice have invisible zipper closures.
I'm really happy with how the whole thing turned out, and the painting was really fun to do. It's also cool to make something that gets worn frequently - sometimes multiple times every weekend!
