It's starting to look like Flynn!
Oct. 21st, 2015 10:24 amI got some work done on the Flynn doublet yesterday, so it's starting to look a bit more like Flynn! I've decided to hold off on the quilting till after I attach all the flanges, because the quilting goes in different directions above v. below the chest flanges. So last night, I assembled each of the flange and collar type pieces, sewed on the chest flanges, the outer collar, and the outer waist flanges. Then I piped the whole front opening/collar, and attached the collar facing.
Next I have to sew on the waist flange facing, and then the actual doublet facing. Then it's attaching the back flange, and then patterning/cutting out/attaching the shoulder flanges. So many flanges! And then of course I have to quilt it and add the studs and closures. And I have probably about 10-12 hours to do this all in, in which time I also have to clean the house and make food. Ack! Rehearsal tonight, so I doubt I'll get any sewing done afterwards.
Here's a picture of what it looks like as of last night, looking huge on my little dress form.
